Began this dress in November 2011. I worked on it pretty steadily, maybe an hour an evening - ish. The top section took shape quite quickly. I’d say the wrap and turns at the beginning to shape the neck were the hardest bit. After that I had some issue when I joined the wrap-over of the top and there is a slight tuck in the finished piece (not noticed until way too late to frog…). The actual skirt section was really very straightforward, enjoyable and fun to knit, but LONG. I have no idea how Roko did this in two weeks! I have just finished it - 21st April 2012, so quite a long project, because it grew quite big it was too big to take on long train journeys! I followed Roko’s modifications because my yarn was closest to her guage and I liked the way her pictures looked. Once again, huge thanks to Gudrun, I have no idea how you design such a dress from scratch. My friend thinks the dress deserves to be kept in a textile museum! But I plan to wear it to a friends wedding at the weekend. Pics to come.
Finally took the photos - it’s a nice day!
As you can see I made the belt an i-cord rather than a ribbon, and when i bought the yarn they sent me 10 balls of one dye-lot and 4 balls of another, I didn’t think i’d need the 4 balls as I thought I’d do it in 10, but as I did no swatch and was kind of knitting blind… i’ve got an interesting hem!!!
