Notes

I had multiple skeins of a cotton/acrylic blend called “Jungle Teal”. It was given to me when a friend’s mother-in-law passed away. She had started a sweater with one skein. The pattern was in the bag with the yarn, but it wasn’t a size that would fit anyone in my family, and I didn’t think I’d have the patience to knit a sweater on size 4 needles with thin yarn.

I started to make a market bag with the yarn, and frogged it. The yarn just didn’t seem to match that purpose. I recently did a craft show at a retirement home, and a couple of ladies asked about shawls, which I didn’t have in inventory. This yarn seemed to be calling out to me to make a shawl.

I started this with two strands of yarn and a size N crochet hook. My first row was 3 DC
2nd row: DC in first stitch, {2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc} in next stitch (Center increase), DC in last stitch
Subsequent rows:
2 DC in first stitch, DC in each stitch to center, work Center Increase in ch-2 space at center, dc to end, 2 DC in last stitch.

I just kept going with that pattern until I ran out of yarn.
Finished shawl weighs 14.4 ounces. Measures 48” across top and about 33” from top to bottom.
