My niece chose the colors for this purse and I hooked it up in an evening. The flower, braided strap and the lining (oy! the lining!) took me a lot longer since I’d never lined anything before.

I started off using the Granny Stripe Boutique pattern but found it a bit confusing and wanted to make some adjustments. I chained 36 as 50 seemed humongous; after the first round of shells, I had 25 shells. (See picture of the bottom of the bag.) Continuing to work in the round I put shells in every ch2 space around, joining after each round.

On the 10th round I changed color.

On the 13 round I alternated 3-dc shells and 2-dc shells all around, narrowing the bag as it neared the top.

On the 14 round I did 2-dc shells all around, narrowing it further.

The 15th round I sc’d all around.

The 16th round I changed color and sc’d all around.

Rounds 17 & 18 I hdc’d all around.

Round 19 I sc’d all around and tied off.
