Sew in the bound off end. Then use your long tail from casting on to sew the ear together at the bottom and attach it to the hat.

Used Pfong001s instructions for sewing on the spikes down the center of the balaclava:

Pick up 10 stitches near center front of the hat with DPNs and then picked up another 10 stitches in parallel to the other 10 stitches with another DPN

Row 1: Place marker at beginning of the round, K10, and then knit the other 10 (i.e. in round)
Row 2: K1, SSK, K4, K2tog, K2, SSK, K4, K2tog, K1 (decrease 4 stitches in total)
Row 3: K round
Row 4: K1, SSK, K2, K2tog, K2, SSK, K2, K2tog, K1

Row 7: K round
Row 8: K1, SKP (slip knit passover), K2, SKP, K1 (should have 6 stitches left)
