Notes

I made this doily for one of my girl friends. I didn’t know how to crochet with thread so I tried to find a yarn that wouldn’t be hard to work with. I’d read about doing doilies with sock yarn, so I had her pick one out while we were at the craft store. I had to do a mock up first with scrap worsted weight yarn to test the pattern out.

Once I figured it out, I made it with the sock yarn. I won’t say it was super easy, I had some issues along the way, but it really wasn’t too difficult. Considering that it’s my third real crochet project, I’d say I did a good job.

The one thing I don’t like is that the doily curled up a bit on the edges and it wouldn’t lay flat or stretch out. I think it’s the yarn material and not my tension. I tried blocking it, but it didn’t hold for long. My friend doesn’t care, but if I were to do this again, I’d try to find some fingering weight cotton.

The 1st picture is of the final blocked doily, the 2nd photo is of the doily before I blocked it, and the other 3 pictures are close ups of the finished doily.
