I was practicing some fun crochet stitches (puff stitch and popcorn stitch) one day and showed them to my sister. She really liked the popcorn stitch and asked me to make her a hat that used the stitch. I tried to find a pattern but didn’t have any luck. So I asked her if it would be okay if the hat used puff stitches instead since I didn’t know how I could create my own popcorn stitch hat pattern. She agreed and chose this pattern (Pretty Puffs Slouchy Hat).

It took me 3 tries to finish this hat. The first time I made the hat, it was too small. I have a tight tension and the pattern maker must have a small head. So I frogged it and tried again. This time I added a few increase rows. The second hat was too big. So I frogged it again. The third hat was just right. I added, I think only 2 increase rows, used a larger hook, and tried to make my tension a little looser while still making the stitches look neat.

My sister was super excited to finally get her hat. And it fit perfectly! I like the hat, but I don’t want to make another anytime soon, for obvious reasons.
