Test knit for fern1knits. I can already see this is going to be one of my favorites this winter.
Modifications:
I shortened the back under the cable by one lace round.
Made the sleeves one lace round shorter as well, but that was totally accidental because I can’t count.
I increased the back by 8 sts before the cable panel to have the panel span from seed border to seed border, and decreased these 8 sts on the first lace round after the cable. Even after the increase, the cable is so much narrower than the lace that it didn’t effect the waist shaping effect that the cable does.
The fit is almost perfect, and I couldn’t be happier. The sweater is a bit long (even after shortening it), but I hope that when the aggressive blocking wears off a bit it will get better. I thought that since I’m not a blue person I will dye it black when it’s finished, but I think I like it as it is.
Update Feb.8 2012: After some wear the back shrinked dramatically and is now just the right size.
I added a sc border around the whole seed st edge to make it look neater, and added a cord (a woven one, not an i-cord) as ties. I decided I like it better for this sweater than buttons.
