Notes

2-Dec-2018

I’m making a simple afghan for Bob, using the Tunisian smock stitch, also called the honeycomb stitch. Each row alternates TSS (Tunisian simple stitch) with TPS (Tunisian purl stitch), offsetting the stitches each row. I’m making the afghan in strips and I think I wiil join each strip as I go, entrelac style join. The other option is to sew strips together after all are complete but I think that would ruin the color pattern I have in mind.

Each strip is 12 stitches wide.

I’ve decided the afghan will be 18 strips wide - so it will be about 4 1/2 feet wide. It’s somewhere around 5 1/2 to 6 feet long, will measure it sometime. I’m close to one-third complete. Very pleased with so far, the first afghan in my Year of The Afghan.

I’m finished. I stopped at 15 strips and then added a 2-round border in the multi-colored Caron Jumbo yarn:
Round 1: Alternated dc, ch-1 (so it looks like filet crochet); corners dc, ch-2, dc
Round 2: 2 dc in each ch-2 space, corners 2dc, ch-1, 2 dc
