This project is based on the Cobblestone Cowl pattern linked to it - although I have made several modifications, which I will briefly describe. The pattern is very clever and well- written, I just decided to change things to suit my materials & gauge. (As I usually do, I made starting chain with a hook one size larger than I’m using for the rest of the project. )
- Instead of working regular round, I’m working it as a mobius
- Instead of hdc stitches, I’m using sc
I am using two yarns, as pattern requires. The bulky yarn is Rasta by Malabrigo - very soft, squishy, and colorful. The other yarn is from my stash, a hand-dyed and hand-spun silk yarn. Years ago I completed a crochet shawl for a friend that used this yarn & other equally beautiful purple yarns. She had started the project but found it too difficult to complete - and when I completed the shawl, she gifted me the leftover yarns. This pattern is the perfect project for these two yarns.
On top of it all, this is a really fun technique, I’m loving it!

I finished today & am really pleased. As it was getting larger, I could tell that I would end up with a large amount of the Rasta left over if I continued with the cobblestone pattern and I didn’t want that. So I fastened off the silk yarn and worked the last rounds with the Rasta only, using much larger hook(s). I ended up with about 2 feet left of the Rasta, hurrah!
Round 1: 7 mm hook, slip stitch
Rounds 2 & 3: 7 mm hook, linen stitch (alternate sc, ch1)
Round 4: 8 mm hook made something up to preserve yarn (alternate slip st in ch-sp, ch1 over sc)
