Was challenged from start to finish but learned many new techniques.
I tried knitting a hat to practice my colourwork, using the pattern. Good idea as far as practice is concerned.
Cast-on flat using knitted cast on, because i kept twisting the stitches, then joined in round.
Finally discovered Techknitter’s Nearly Invisible increase which I used on the body but sadly not on sleeves.
For colourwork yoke, my advice is to not try to learn any new fancy method of stranding. Just knit in the way you’re used to, even if it means dropping yarn all the time. Keeping the stitches loose on the right needle is everything. And keeping calm.
I am a magic loop person and that worked for me. I tried what Norwegians do, using 3 circular needles, but got confused.
I also seemed to have missed a row doing the short rows (couldnt understand instructions) and it’s not flat.
Haha I also had never really used stitch markers before and couldnt visualise the shaping! So there was quite a bit of frogging. Will add photo for anyone else who is confused.
I also managed to create a hole by somehow dropping a stitch and have had to sew it up!
Wonderful that the designer replies to emails for help.
I still dont know if it’s ok to block the jumper.
It took 4 days to dry flat so I WILL NEVER WASH IT AGAIN!
I used two different blues and like how the shades fade into eachother.
Am frustrated that I have so much wool left over, would appreciate any good patterns to use them up.
I am happy with the way it’s turned out and especially the fit. Love that it’s got a feminine fit as it’s hard enough for me to look decent in jumpers.
