Xmas completion estimate: 36 days, finish everything by 12/25/26

My niece fell in love with a blanket at an antique store. Her husband surreptitiously took a picture and sent to me, asking if I could make it. The answer was of course “yes”.

The linked pattern isn’t exactly what I’m doing, but it’s as close as I could find, and I didn’t even watch the YouTube video, just looked at photos. I believe my pattern is just taller (HDCs replace all SC, and TR replace all DC)

Pattern repeat is 14+1 (or +8 if lateral symmetry isn’t necessary)

Row1: Ch1, turn, 1HDC in each stitch across

Row2: Ch3, turn, 4TR in same stitches, skip 3 stitches, work 7HDC in next 7 stitches, skip 3 stitches, work 7TR in next stitch repeat until 7 stitches remain, skip 3 stitches, work 4HDC in last 4 stitches.

Row3: Ch1, turn, 1HDC in each stitch across

Row4: Ch1, turn, 4HDC in next 4 stitches, skip 3 stitches, work 7TR in next stitch, skip 3 stitches, work 7HDC in next 7 stitches repeat until 4 stitches remain, skip 3 stitches, work 4TR in last stitch.

Repeat rows 1-4 until desired length.

I worked white for 4 rows, all other colors 2 rows each. I should have enough yarn to do 10 rainbow repeats, but I’ll check length at 9.

Inspiration for edge
I had 1 set up round of 7SC, ch2 (skip1) and each side had to be (x8)+5, with SC, CH2, SC in each corner.

Fan round was 6TR with 1ch in between for sides, and 10TR with 1ch in between for corners
