I’d been hoping to make this sweater for Diana’s Teo and I think all the snow here in Stockholm has just made my fingers itchy to get started!
Total yarn cost = 182 SEK
Second Marius sweater, but this time I’m using Drops Karisma instead of Sandes Smart Garn, for two reasons:
- It’s cheaper
- It’s a lot easier to get in Sweden
I’m noticing that the Karisma isn’t quite as “grabby” as the Smart - maybe because of that super wash quality. It also doesn’t feel quite as thick, though they’re both supposed to be DK weight.
Coming in at 20 st/10 cm instead of the 22 called for in the pattern. Oh, well - just means it’ll be a bit bigger. I’d debated between using the 2/4 year old sizing anyway.
6 Feb
This had been put on hold because I was working on the Unicorn Power Hitchhiker for Gabi.
Now I’ve picked it up again. I’d ripped back to the start of the color work and I was sure I had exactly 135 stitches - I’d planned for the size 2, but this was the size 1 and it was the right width for a 2-4 year old so… it must be right?
But then I was trying to do the bind-offs after the color work and it turned out that I had 155 stitches, while size 4 is 156. Interesting. Apparently I did go for size 4 - verified by counting the ribbing. So the body is about 1.5 cm short. Oops.
Casting on the sleeves now! Referred to Marius the First for help with the sleeves - good thing I wrote all these notes!
9 Feb
Finally got the cuffs to the sleeves done, after having read the wrong number to cast on.
Increase 6 across the arm
44 / 6 = 7
Every six stitches?
Should have been at least every 7th, but oh, well
Purled one in the middle, put a stitch counter before it
Increase to 68, every 2 cm 2x = 6 rows
44->68 = 24 stitches = 12
126 = 72 rows
12 Feb
Got the end of the increases on one sleeve to realize that I had 72 stitches and the entire arm was already 25+ cm long. Ended up ripping out the entire thing and starting again, increasing every 5th row. This time, I’m also counting as I go instead of counting the rows.
15 March
Decided to come back to these sleeves after letting the project rest a bit.
øk p først p jevnt fordelt 6 m
Increase by 6, distributed across the work
Needle 1: K6, kfb, , k1
Needle 2: K6, kfb,, k1
Increase to 68, every 2 cm 2x = 4 rows
44->68 = 24 stitches = 12
12x4 = 48 rows
Stop at 4 cm before total arm length (25 cm) = 21 cm
20 March - Sleeves are joined to the body!
24 March - First decreases, decrease 36 stitches for a total of 216 stitches.
252/36 = 7
k5, k2tog, *
31 March - Finished the snowflake pattern, decrease 40 stitches for a total of 176.
216/40 = 5.4
k3, k2tog, k4, k2tog, *
1 April - nearly there! Reduce 32 stitches to 144
176/32 = 5.5
k3, k2tog, k4, k2tog
4 April - slowed down due to family visits, but now working on the ribbed neck
