DH ankle was 8 1/2” circumference above the ankle bone so I cast on 68 stitches to DPNs. (8 stitches/inch).

Used K2 P2 rib till 1 3/4”

34 st used for heel flap (eye of partridge) until 18 stitches along right side.

Turned heel starting with K20, K2tog, K1, but next time I should use an even number of stitches as this left an odd number of stitches and it didn’t finish nicely.

Picked up and knit decreases until 68 stitches as described on p139 of Knitting Rules.

My DH has a narrow foot so I knit for 8” (measured from back of heel) but I decreased on rt and lt three times (once every inch or so) to narrow the foot a bit.

Decreased on last time so there were 60st on needles and finished with a star toe from The Sock Knitter’s Workshop by Jostes and Van der Linn.
