Basic beanie pattern for a 21 inch head (measured mine, since this is a surprise Christmas gift, and Kris and I are about the same size.)

Fingering weight (6 st / inch) yarn, so CO 126 st. and join in round. The beanie is worked completely in stockinette stitch.
