Garter stitch in the round = ALL THE PURLING. I knit English. I hate purling. Portuguese purl to the rescue! I love knitting again.
I got the body of this sweater completely finished in about one week - Saturday to Sunday, I think. This DID include the Thanksgiving holiday though, so….extra knitting time in there, including a 2-hour each way drive to SoFla. (My husband asked me on the drive home “Are you seriously knitting in the dark?!” Yes, yes I was.)
Also, I’m tall. And lanky. I’m knitting the large size of this sweater because I want it to be sort of oversized and comfy and snuggly, but I added in one extra round of the cable pattern so it’ll be long enough to wear with leggings. It’s not super long now, but I think it’s gonna grow kind of a lot once it’s blocked, and I don’t want it to turn into a dress.
NOTE: When you get to the shoulder shaping, start on the LEFT shoulder, since that’s where your working yarn ends up when you get to the shoulder shaping part of the pattern (even though the right sleeve is first in the pattern.)

Knitting is done! Should’ve finished it a day earlier but I was knitting in the dark and dropped a bunch of stitches and had to rip back.
I dropped down 2 needle sizes for the ribbing since I wanted it kind of tight - it STILL came out a little loose (I think that’s just the nature of this yarn since it’s not super tightly spun) but I’m ok with it. Just needs to be assembled and this bad boy is ready to wear!

Finished! Three weeks (give or take a day) from cast on to finished!
There’s a sort of ridge that runs down one side of the body and both sleeves, where my row started. I’m not even sure what I could have done to prevent that. Still, this is a fast fun knit and I got what I wanted which was a cozy oversize sweater!
