2021: Started this several years ago and got it all finished except for the eyes, piecing together and border. Decided to dust it off since I’m on a roll with Owl Obsession blankets this year (this will be my 5th!).

Added a plaid border for a “woodsy” feel
Roughly followed the border I’ve done before with my Fox Blanket https://ravel.me/Herself10/cfbb

Started with 1 round of SC in Ivory to give the border a base.

Color 1 = Medium
Color 2 = Light
Color 3 = Dark

Then I worked around each row with 3DC of Color 1, 3DC of Color 2, 3DC Color 1, 3DC Color 2 and repeated that around carrying unused color under stitches (Extra DC in hexagon corners).

Then next row I did 3DC Color 3 and 3DC Color 1 etc around. The hexagon corners were a bit tricky, and I ended up doing extra DCs before and after corner to “split” the middle 3DC color and carry the plaid coloring out, but got it to work.

Finished with 1 round of brown and then 1 round of SS to stablize the edge.

Finished size 39” x 39”

Note: Cornflower blue yarn is discontinued. Dollar Tree Premier Worsted yarn in Royal Blue may be a good substitute. 50g balls, need approx 12g per circle motif, so one $1.25 ball may be enough? (To make sure, get two.)
