I made this exactly as the pattern specified. I bulked up the eyes a bit by tying the ends together to make a small circle and then sewed around the edges of the eyes to attach them flat to the face.

This was a lot of sewing but it was fun seeing this take shape into an elephant. Believe it or not, the ears were the hardest to attach - the whole personality of the elephant changes depending on where the ears are placed.
