What a fun project this was! After I figured out row two, it just flew - easily memorized & the color-shifting yarn kept it interesting. I’m going to enter it in the county fair. Can’t wait for cooler weather so I can wear it! Finished dimensions after blocking 18” x 75”
Project details:
July 22
I need a mental break from all my complex sweater patterns. And since this yarn came in, and it was so much prettier in person, starting it has been occupying my thoughts while working on other projects. So I gave in to temptation ;)
July 23
Two rows done! The second row was more challenging than I had anticipated at first, but I’ve got it now, we’re off and rolling! The pattern is a lot of fun to work, easy enough to memorize, different enough to keep it interesting. There’s a lot more color in my yarn than I had expected from the website photos. Not sure how i feel about that…It is so soft & pretty though!
July 27
1st ball done! Got almost 10.5 rows. Just a few stitches short of the last row of SQ 2 row 11. The pattern says 21 rows total but I think I may make it longer. We’ll see how I feel after ball 2. It’s sooo pretty, like the colors of summer sherbet.
Aug 3
About halfway thru ball 2. Second ball very inconsistent - spots unspun, long sections over spun. First ball was so nice….wondering what 3rd ball will be like.
Aug 6
Ball 2 got me to row 22. Pattern said to stop after 21 rows but I want it longer, it wraps around & crosses a bit in front, but I want to be able to toss an end over my shoulder. And since I have an entire 3rd ball, why not?
Aug 9
Almost done! Did 30 rows, should be long enough for me now. Working on border but got too dark to crochet in the car. Boo, I wanted to finish tonight…
Aug 10
Did two rows of border, 2nd row I did BLO for texture. Had a tiny bit of yarn to make a little tie for the ends. So used every last inch! Ends woven, time to block!
