Notes

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Dark Shadows television show, the Dark Shadows group has decided to recreate the “Time-Travelling Afghan” (referred to as the “Collinsport Afghan” here) from the show. Perhaps the most distinctive thing about this afghan is the ring of green granny squares around the outside. Contributors include: Tinyknit, Patwoman, ElizabethMH, brackenhedge, & swedishfish2211. The afghan will be donated to the Dark Shadows Festival to be auctioned to raise money for Lyndhurst where the two Dark Shadows movies were filmed.

Update, April 3, 2016: Starting to layout squares. First row of all green squares has been connected using join-as-you-go method.

Update, April 10, 2016: The afghan is halfway done being put together.

Update, May 7, 2016: The squares are all joined. Starting to do the edging.

Update, May 9, 2016: All the crocheting is done!
Just finishing ends now.

Finished May 11, 2016!

Arrangements have been made to deliver the afghan to the director of the Dark Shadows Festival on Friday, June 24, in Tarrytown, New York.

Final update: The afghan was delivered to Jim Pierson, DS Festival’s director (3rd picture). It was auctioned on Sunday, June 26, after the luncheon. Sold for $250 to very happy DS fan Vincent (4th picture). Kathryn Leigh Scott signed a picture of her character, Maggie, next to the afghan (5th picture). Pierson said the afghan was the closest to the original anyone had ever seen.
