Notes

26.10.22
Cast on size 4, 98 stitches, 4mm needles. I wasn’t sure I’d done the tubular cast-on correctly but it looks really neat so I’m guessing it’s right! Switched to 4.5mm after the ribbing.

27.10.22
The short rows (German) were finished by the end of the evening so I’m ready to start the colourwork tomorrow - using 5mm needles for colourwork.

29.10.22
This is such an easy pattern to follow and it’s growing faster than expected - I’m not a speedy knitter! I’m doing a kind of fade into the third colour, partly to break up the rust (Japanese Maple) and add some interest, and partly to reserve some for the hem to save me having to order another hank of it.

06.11.22
Yoke finished, and I’m relieved and excited to see how the colour change has worked out. I alternated the two dye lots of Galaxy towards the end of the yoke, even though they do look exactly the same. It measures 30.5cm which is 15mm longer than the pattern suggests. Used 58g Burnt Sienna & 46g Japanese Maple.

07.11.22
Divided for body and sleeves. Time for lots of stocking stitch!

19.11.22
One sleeve finished as far as rib - want to now finish body and block to make sure I don’t make the sleeves too long.

27.11.22
Didn’t get time to block the body so just cast off the body as is, using tubular cast off https://youtu.be/0jPMLIE7ac8. I have 30g of contrast 2 left to do the cuffs (making a note to ensure I don’t run out although it should be plenty).

05.12.22

It’s finished! I cocked up the tubular bind-off on the second cuff so unpicking that was a bit time-consuming, but that’s just the way when learning new techniques. I’ve given the yoke a steam blocking and will see how it looks tomorrow, I don’t think it needs a full wet block.
