Notes

Swatched on 5mm and 4.5mm, 4.5mm gave me 16.5 stitches to 10cm so I’m going to knit size 3 to allow for the difference as it should be 17. Also, as one of the three strands is oiled I think it will relax and soften when it’s washed, and I don’t want it to be too oversized. Or I could be completely wrong and it turns out too small, who knows?!

01.02.24
I’m loving how these yarns are knitting up together but it’s tough on my thumb as the fabric is rather dense and stiff to move along the needles! I’m convinced a good soak and blocking will result in a gorgeous jumper, though. Onwards!

10.02.24
The first ball of the main colour (225g) ended when body measured 25cm below armpit.

16.02.24
Right sleeve finished, using 3.5mm needle for rib. 65g of main yarn used.

21.02.24
I’ve been flitting between this and another project to keep my brain amused as the stocking stitch gets a bit tedious, but I’ve now finished both sleeves and am going to see how much rib I can knit on the body with the remaining 137g of main yarn (I have 125g and 12g so not sure I’ll utilise the small ball due to the join).

22.02.24
Finished! Measurements pre-blocking and post-blocking - gave it a good soak that took several days to dry, only two measurements changed as below:
A 20 after 23
B 11
C 106 after 110
D 36
E 21
F 25
G 38
H 41

I love this jumper, it feels really solid and outdoorsy and I’m glad I persevered with the three yarns held together as I love the effect. It’s one of the neatest, most professional-looking garments I’ve ever knitted, I’m so chuffed that I’m already thinking of the next one and which yarns I can combine from my stash. Maybe a looser one next, a proper oversized throw-on-over-everything, possibly using the same Woolyknit yarn I have, but in green.
