Hi, first time posting here ! I’m only a hobbyist so sorry in advance if I may sound confusing at some points. So a few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to do a Pikmin Hat, and so far I did a red pikmin and a yellow pikmin.
This project was made by using patterns from other people and some that I did on my own. Everything is done in the round, don’t ask me how to sew evey parts on I don’t know how to explain lol.

  • I used the “Beanie” pattern by Nice and Knit for the beanie part, really like the neat finish.

  • For the eyes, both the black and white part, I used this circle pattern I found on youtube by VeryPink Knits, but I stopped at row 9 (last row to knit, not the bind off) for the white part, and row 3 for the black part. I joined the pupils on the increase row (the fifth one) from the white, when you pull through it gives a seamless finish. Sew to the beanie, no stuffing.

  • For the stem I went like this:

CO 24 sts in the round
1-5 : Knit all
6 : K2tog, Knit the rest
7-10 : Knit all
Repeat row 6 to 10 until you have 12 sts left, then K2tog to the end, and pull through, stuff it before sewing to the beanie.

  • For the nose:

CO 14 sts in the round
1 : Knit
2 : K2tog, Knit the rest
Repeat row 1 and 2 until you have 5 sts left, then pull though, stuff it a little before sewing on the beanie

  • For the ears, make 2:

CO 40 sts in the round
1-8: Knit all
9: K1, Ssk, K34, K2tog, K1
10-11 : Knit all
12 : K1, Ssk, K32, K2tog, K1
13-14 : Knit all
15 : K1, Ssk, K30, K2tog, K1
16 : Knit all
17 : K1, Ssk, K28, K2tog, K1
18 : Knit all
19 : K1, Ssk, K26, K2tog, K1
20 : Knit all
21 : K1, Ssk, K24, K2tog, K1
22 : K1, Ssk, K22, K2tog, K1
23 : K1, Ssk, K20, K2tog, K1
24 : K1, Ssk, K18, K2tog, K1
25 : (K1, Ssk, K5, K2tog, K1) x2
26 : (K1, Ssk, K3, K2tog, K1) x2
27 : (K1, Ssk, K1, K2tog, K1) x2
28 : K2tog all
Pull through and sew to the beanie, no stuffing.

  • For the leaf:

CO 8 sts in the round
1 : Knit all
2 : (K1, Kfb, K1, Kfb, K1) x2
3 : Knit all
4 : (K1, Kfb, K3, Kfb, K1) x2
5 : Knit all
6 : (K1, Kfb, K5, Kfb, K1) x2
7 : Knit all
8 : (K1, Kfb, K7, Kfb, K1) x2
9 : Knit all
10 : (K1, Kfb, K9, Kfb, K1) x2
11-12 : Knit all
13 : (K1, Kfb, K11, Kfb, K1) x2
14-17 : Knit all
18 : (K1, Ssk, K11, K2tog, K1) x2
19-20 : Knit all
21 : (K1, Ssk, K9, K2tog, K1) x2
22-23 : Knit all
24 : (K1, Ssk, K7, K2tog, K1) x2
25-26 : Knit all
27 : (K1, Ssk, K5, K2tog, K1) x2
28-29 : Knit all
30 : (K1, Ssk, K3, K2tog, K1) x2
31-32 : Knit all
33 : (K1, Ssk, K1, K2tog, K1) x2
34-35 : Knit all
36 : (Ssk, K1, K2tog) x3
Pull through and sew on the end of the stem, no stuffing.

  • For the flower:

Flower’s center

So I used this pattern, but I did it in the round (so every row x2), but for the increases I move the p1 with the k in between the increased stitch, and i did a knit instead of a purl, and for the decreases I just replaced the purl by a knit. If that makes sense. Also stuff a little before sewing it on the stem.

Petals, do 5

CO 16 in the round
1-10 : Knit all
11 : (K1, Ssk, K2, K2tog, K1) x2
12 : Knit all
13 : (K1, Ssk, K2tog, K1) x2
Pull through, stuff a little before sewing on the flower’s center

I really love how clean both of them look, but the only bad thing I can point out is that with the stem stuffed plus the flower/leaf on top, it might be uncomfortable and “hurt” the head a little on the long run, and I don’t know how to fix that, if I don’t stuff it it would just fall flat and won’t give that pikmin effect. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Alright I think that’s it, I’m going to work on the blue one, I’ll do a bulb instead of a flower or a leaf, and i’ll just do a triangle thingy for the mouth, I’ll see how it goes. I’ll update it once it’s done.

Anyways thanks for reading and I wish you all a nice day ! heart

Edit 3/12/24:
Forgot to add, I didn’t knit knit 1, purl 1 for the begining of the beanie, I just did all knit. And to prevent the edge from curling I folded the edge inside of the beanie and sew from the inside. Probably not necessary and time consuming but I like the result.
