A new technique for me, there is a magic cast on with two circular needles. The results of this technique is a cast on for the back and a cast on for the two fronts and neck. These two cast ons are stacked one on top of the other. Then you work each separately in back and forth flat knitting (the back, the right front, the left front; the neck will be dealt with later) until the armpits are reached, where they are then all joined together, continuing to knit back and forth.

Another new technique for me is the Yarnover Short Row. Easy and brilliant!
Have you tried it?
Yet another new technique for me is the Italian bind off. Very cool. It adds polish and heft to the hem.

This cardigan is inspired by a cape pattern called ‘Brikker’ from the archives of Isager (a Danish yarn and pattern company). You can see the original graphic by Ase Lund Jensen in the last photo.
The updated design by Anne Ventzel is modernized into a cardigan.

I decided to add the reverse color scheme at the bottom edge as a nod to the original cape.

Mods:
-color reversal for the last pattern section before ribbing, both body & sleeves.
-shorter body length: 8 pattern repeats rather than 10.
-longer sleeve length: 4 pattern repeats rather than 3.
-sleeve stitch decreases: decreased 18 sts (from 72 to 54 rather than zero decreases) in the last 4 rows right before ribbing.
-buttonholes on purl columns only.

Splendid directions!
