I worked it just in the same way like SilkeSF:

»After reading some of the notes other people wrote after making this hat, I decided to cast on 120 sts and work with needles size 3,5. K.’s head circumference is 22 inches.

I knitted in pattern until the hat measured about 7.9 inches, and then started with the decreases. The brim (folded up) measures about 2.5 inches.

I also did the decrease in a different way - i did a k2tog decrease on the last purl stitch/first knit stitch of a rib:

1. Knit/purl 24 sts in ribbed pattern, k2tog, place marker, * knit/purl 28 sts in ribbed pattern, k2tog, place marker (repeat twice from * ), K2, P2
2. Every round thereafter: knit/purl in pattern until 2 sts remain before each marker, k2tog, slip maker, continue in this way
3. Decrease until 20 sts remain, break yarn and thread through remaining sts, pull tight and weave in the yarn.«
