Notes

CO 20 sts per pattern. Knitted at T8. This gave quite a firm fabric, but I wanted it to have substantial body to keep the shape of the ball once assembled.

I knitted to 68 rows, per the pattern, but felt it was too short, so continued to 90 rows. I’ll see when it’s done if that was a good guess.

I have the 6 strips and now must weave and sew ends together.

Definitely recommend binding off each strip at the machine. I’m having to stitch up the live stitches at the end of each strip (x6). Some would keep both ends live with waste yarn and graft the ends. I’m hoping that’s not necessary, and that I can simply arrange the strips in such a way that the sewn-together ends are buried inside.

There’s a nice video tutorial on assembling the ball on You Tube.

I’ve got it all assembled, the ends all sewn together and I’m quite pleased with the result. The gauge and length of the strips was just right. Sewing the ends together rather than grafting was just fine. A little squishing things around hid the seams very nicely inside the ball.

One precaution:Do not get carried away with sewing ends of strips together. I did the first two - that was fine - but then I started right in seaming the rest and had to undo the next two, as they hadn’t been woven in to the structure yet!

This is a fun and fairly easy project. Certainly the knitting couldn’t be any easier. I completed the entire project from machine to final photo in about 3 hours. I’ll do this one again.
