Notes

SECTION A - Twisted Stitches
Mary Maxim yarn.

Twisted stitches. I have to say that the instructions here for ‘twisting’ the stitches are a bit unclear. I ended up simply taking the specified number of stitches off onto a transfer tool, placing a second transfer tool through the stitches in the opposite direction (for the 2- and 3-stitch twists), then twisting and placing them back on the needles.

SECTION B - Garter Stitch, Woven and Wrapped Stitches
Serenity sock yarn (Chili colorway), two ends, Shawl in a Ball for wrapping
After the first segment of wrapped stitches I’ve decided I’m going to use more wraps on the next segment. The blobs are too small.

SECTION C - Eyelets
Serenity sock yarn (Violas colorway) two ends
OK, totally got the instructions wrong here. First eyelet segment OK, but completely missed putting the eyelets in the segment that decreases. Also, failed to do edge decrease ever other row, as well as edge eyelet every other every other row. Ended up ripping that whole section back.

I have to say, I’m really enjoying working on the bulky machine. I rarely do, and it feels like a toy.

SECTION D - Ribbing
Shawl in a Ball (Mindful Mauve colorway)

SECTION E - Cables
Shawl in a Ball (Mindful Mauve colorway)

SECTION F - Lace Motifs
Mary Maxim yarn

SECTION G - Final Rows
Serenity sock yarn (Chili colorway), two ends, Mary Maxim for wrapping
I elected to make more wrapped needleds stitches in this section.

All sections done. I learned a lot, got to know some new yarns. I really like the Shawl in a Ball yarn! Super soft, easy to knit. I really like the combination of colors and the gradations from one color to the next. I’ll use it again. I didn’t really care for the Mary Maxim, which was supposed to stand in for the Noro. The color changes are too abrupt, and I don’t really like the colors they put together.

I ended up reforming ALL of the stitches in the cable section, since I didn’t have a ribber. That was an unbelievable PITA, but I think I mastered reforming stitches with the latch tool.

All segments done, I folded the piece in half and basted all of the edges together, then machine washed and dried the whole thing. Put in one twist and grafted the ends together.

I can’t really get how to wear it with the twist. It doesn’t seem to lay right in any orientation. Ah well. I might ungraft the ends and just graft them together to form a straight circle.

All-in-all I found this to be a pretty unsatisfying project. I will probably wear the shawl/cowl/scarf as it is very soft and squishy.
