The 4 color tiger is a proof-of-concept piece for img2track. I wanted to knit a 4 color picture where I simply selected the original photo with img2track and knitted the resulting pattern. No manipulation of the image by me at all. I am extremely pleased with the result.
Not all photos work well with img2track, but I think this proves, beyond a doubt, that if you start with a suitable photo that you can get very good results with img2track.
After I completed the 4 color piece in double bed jacquard, I thought a 2 color, B&W, fair isle one would make a good comparison. I hope to add an illusion knit as well. It’s a great series, I think.
As you can see from the pattern in the img2track viewer window, I chose colors other than the ones that were in the palette. This is a big part of making a knitted image come to life. There are so many options when choosing your yarns. In general, I think it’s better to have at least 2 highly contrasting colors of yarn.
