Notes

I used #5 & #6 needles because I wanted a very small sweater, for a premie baby. This is not intended to be a premie size, but I wanted it to be small because he’s going to be so little.

Finished measurements:
Sleeves from underarms: 5 inches
Length from top of shoulder to hem of garment: 9-1/4 inches
Chest: 16 inches around

I did a tiny sweater and still found the short rows worth doing. They make a very nice collar.

Loved this pattern but I have a couple of thoughts on the way it is written. In the beginning of the pattern, there is an insert box that just says “Short Row Shaping”. I thought this was just details on how to do the short rows later in the pattern. No. It’s right after the initial set up row at the beginning, and these are actually Rows 1 and 2 of the sweater. It should have said “Row 1 and Row 2” of the general pattern to let you know you were beginning the pattern. It says “Short Row 1 and Short Row 2” which I thought just referenced later short rows and how to do those, since it was boxed off graphically as a insert. It kind of threw me til I figure it out.

Also, when you pick up stitches for the collar it says to “pick up” but really it should say “pick up and knit” because you are using the working yarn to pick up the stitches.

I used Icelandic Bind Off over the garter stitch edge of the shawl, which is super stretchy. I have a tutorial on that here: https://italiandishknits.com/2016/12/19/stretchy-knitted-... Over the ribbing edge of the collar, I did a regular rib bind off.

I picked up 6 stitches around the sleeves instead of 2. I thought the sleeves needed the extra width and I’m glad I did. It also lessened the underarm gaps.
