This is a great pattern for variegated sock yarn. It keeps your attention, but moves quickly. I did not do the double wrapping at the heel, but instead, just did a normal short-row heel. I will have to seam a tiny gap on the outer heel, but the double wrapping seemed excessive to me.

I don’t recall when I finished these socks. At least two months ago, maybe more. Oh, and I seamed the heels a bit, since I skipped the double-wrapping. Lesson learned.

Bottom line: I love these socks. Koigu is such great yarn, with happy painted colors.

8.13.13 Turned heel over the weekend. I think I’ve got another two inches or so, and I’ll have a pair!

7.9.13 Finally cast on for second sock!

10.31 Finished first sock last night. I didn’t use the entire first skein, but I felt like the sock was at a good length. I didn’t do the picot edging, mostly because I was in the car and didn’t quite understand the directions.

10.24 After turning the heel, I’m just continuing in the pattern (only on the front) until I run out of yarn.

10.19 Turned the heel for the second time. It fits, and looks much better.

10.14 Back in July, I completed the first heel, but after trying on, it was to short, so I let it sit for a while. I picked it up again last night, and frogged the heel. I’m just about ready to rework it and continue.

7.5 I’m about to turn the first heel. Decreased several stitches on the sole of the foot.
