Geometry was a favorite class and I have found a way to bring it into my world of weaving. I have a Hazel Rose 3.5” tumbling block diamond (60-degree) loom. I figured I could make a hexagon if I had a corresponding equilateral triangle. I put my request for one into Randy at HRL And it worked! I put a hexagon (made with two triangles and two diamonds) at the center of the mat and filled in all the angles with single diamond shapes. I ended with a swirl. I used Paton’s Classic Wool, whip stitched the 28 pieces together and finished the edge with one round of reverse crochet. The mat was put into my top loading washing machine for about 12 minutes. And it came out perfect. The finished size is about 15” in diameter. (6/2015….I added a paper layout for the design…the center hexagon is made with two tumbling block diamonds and two equilateral triangles)
