The yarn used is a hand-dyed wool/mohair blend, very nice to knit, and warm to wear. The actual color is much darker than shown in the photos.
The Tannenbaum cable design is a mash-up of two traditional twisted stitch patterns: one on page 122 of Lisa Fanderl’s Bauerliches Stricken 3, and Nr 82 Baum (Tree) from Maria Erlbacher’s Twisted-Stitch Knitting, with the single twisted stitch changed to a 2-stitch knit rib. The cable begins as a 4-stitch rope cable from the cast-on. Click on a photo to zoom. Each cable is bordered on both sides by a 2-stitch wavy or snaky cable.
