Notes

Inspired by Ulysses’ patient wife, this sweater is called Penelope because I spent so much time knitting and ripping, knitting and ripping over and over again trying to get the yoke right! It was a mistake using a provisional cast-on because it would just stretch, making it hard to measure the yoke depth, so it got put on needles and bound off so there’d be a firm top edge. Later the bound-off edge had stitches picked up on it for the neckband which was knit in garter then bound off using a picot bind-off.

With top-down construction, the button- and buttonhole bands were made at the same time as the body, and I realized that I could make the bands picot-edged as well. At the end of a row, cable cast on 2 sts, bind them off, turn the work and start the next row.

This was a challenging project, (self assigned!) and I learned a lot from it. : )
