7.11.13 Zip arrived and sewn in by hand, toggles on with wee patches from an old leather coat, all in all very pleased with this and it is SO warm!

3.11.13 Knitting finished, just waiting for the chunky zip I’ve ordered to finish this. Am wearing it already though and it is so cosy, really (really) love this wool! I’m thinking about putting some duffle coat toggles on this too, wonder if I can make them…. I’ve got wooden toggles on order, and I have some leather in my sewing box….

30.10.13 The freeform cabling working, now up to the hood so it should be easy from here on. Then the pocket ribbing and the armholes and it should be getting a wearing next week hopefully. Feels like it’s taken ages but I have made 2 pairs of slippers and 9 owls at the same time…

21.10.13 ohoh, enjoying this but having to improvise a bit of cabling on the back in the middle, going to call it freeform… Liking the result, I never was one for absolute symmetry!

13.10.13 Started this gilet. Haven’t worked out the cable pattern I want to do yet but started the rib anyway. Planning quite a deep single rib, knitting in one piece on straight pins, pockets, hood, sleeveless, wooden toggles.

Button band: front = knit, back = k,p rib.

All other ribs are k1, p1
