pattern for acorn on 2 needles

15.9.13 Hurray, finished. Felt like a bit of a slog at times. Not wholly happy with the short rows, think I’ll wrap them next time because there are holes in this one, albeit hidden in the bramble stitch.

I also made up my own acorn pattern. I wanted something with a smoother increase row than the version in this pattern, and also I prefer to knit on 2 pins with one tucked under my arm (a Scottish thing?). There’s a seam in the back but you don’t see it when the acorn is sewn onto the cushion. I’m really pleased with my wee acorns, they look fairly close to the real ones I picked up in the park yesterday. Have included the instructions below.

But on the whole a lovely pattern, glad I bought it, not least for the lesson in creating this type of border. Don’t really want to give it away now, can see that I’ll be knitting a few more!

7.9.13 Finally bought this pattern and started knitting. I’m planning a pair as a Christmas present, and I’m thinking I’ll use the same border but will make up something different for the centre motif in the 2nd cushion. Another technical challenge, not a knit for in front of the TV.

15. run wool through the remaining 5 st, don’t pull it tight yet. Sew up the seam from the bottom up, turn the right way out, pop in a wee bit of stuffing then pull the top tight. Ta da!
