Reduced the cowl neck increase and added waist shaping: Made this top with a few alterations. I added waist shaping, knitted it a wee bit longer because I’m tall, and reduced the number of extra stitches for the cowl neck. I was using a merino wool that is quite firm and won’t drape, and also I wanted the neck to look like the pattern photo. A lot of the project photos show that in fact there is a lot more drape than the pattern photo suggests. Instead of increasing every 2nd row for the neck I increased every 4th row. Anyway, I’m pleased with the result and am planning another one the same in black. Also a very quick knit, less than a week.
Note the sleeve edging doesn’t stop the sleeves from curling in and making this quite narrow across the shoulder.
Further efforts: my first white one discoloured in the sun when I washed it so did another plus one in black, both in Drops cotton. My improvements were better waist shaping, and I continued to halve the cowl neck increases but on both of these I wanted to keep the definition of the shaping so I twisted 2 stitches instead of every alternate increase. Really like the shape of this top and it’s a really easy knit. Thinking might do a red version with sleeves, will post if I do!
