10/6/11 - posted notes on the shaping I did, so posting them here, too.
I added some (lousy) picture of the shaping with markers clipped into the short row turns on one side.
Note that the bust darts are set well below my nipple line in the shadow of my breasts, so they are almost unnoticeable. My reasoning was I planned for a couple inches of negative ease over my breasts, but wanted to start nipping in to show my waist, which has a couple inches of positive ease.
I also did about 1/3 of the shaping in the back, based on the difference between my back waist and my underbust level back measurement.
While I’m talking about shaping, note that I didn’t knit to my full hip, but instead chose to vent the sweater starting a couple inches below my waist. This allowed me to both knit less and have less width added to my hips by the lower band of the sweater. Breaking up the line and adding the i-cord decoration gives the eye other things to do than measure my hips. ;-)
What you can’t see is that I also short-rowed for my bum, about as many short rows as for my boobs. It keeps me from providing more of a view from behind than I would wish, even when I sit or bend over.
10/16/10 - Finished on the plane to Rhinebeck!
9/15/10 - Can I just say I never want to knit a sweater as a single piece ever again? This is the most awkward unwieldly thing to be working on now. I much prefer seaming!
8/4/10 - I haven’t done a good job at putting notes on this project. Lessee. Changes:
- short rows for the bust. 6 sets, iirc.
- short rows for the derriere. I have a cycling fleece that has an extra couple inches on the back, and it fits so much better. Decided to try that with this sweater.
- seed stitch instead of ridge stitch hem
- vents on the sides, with i-cord trim to reinforce them.
7/19/10 - I am still knitting the occasional row on this, so un-hibernating.
6/18/10 - I don’t want to be knitting this right now. Putting it in the snooze pile. I have the body complete, and most of one sleeve. I’m a dozen or so rounds from starting the cuff.
4/17/10 - cast-on! Using the Manos for the collar; may use for the cuffs too if there’s enough.
