rainbows!!
using african flower hexagon motif and join as you go technique from Heidi Bears. will have two rows/22 hexagons of each color; 132 hexagons total oh god why did I count. grey will fill in borders with half hexagons and… something. the only major modification I’m making is to do the join as you go on the WRONG side; so, crochet all the individual colored flowers, then flip them over to do the gray single crochet and then double crochet around with joins. this puts all the seams on the WS for a tidier front, in my opinion.
1/26/16: After working on this off and on for over a year, I sadly lost all of my in-progress work on a trip to New Orleans. (I hope whoever finds it is in need of a partially assembled blanket!) I was pretty bummed and ready to abandon the whole thing. But now there’s a baby for it, so I’m going to replace the missing yarn and start over. And never bring it out of the house.
7/24/16: DONE!! HOORAY!! For the border I ended up doing 3 rounds of single crochet; the first round included doubles and trebles to fill in the zig zag sides, the second round included half doubles and doubles to smooth it out a little more, and the third was just straight single crochet. After washing it laid out just fine.
