Begun …
because Catherine wants to have help with it.
because I have the yarn.
because I have the pattern.
because … no real reason at all. smiling_imp

Some shades of white can look dingy; this is a dingy one.

The pattern lists 4 stitch markers in the notions, yet none are supposedly used in the garter stitch section. I use two - bracketing the 5-stitch center spine. When I get to the Old Shale portion, I’ll have a LOT more stitch-markers - one between each repeat - in addition to the original four.

I’m up to 133 stitches, and about to change to third cable.

I’m up to 217 stitches. Pattern calls for 229, but this will be much bigger, even though working out the placement of the lacy portion will be a headache. I don’t believe it will use up the whole pound of yarn, but it will be proportional to my size - currently 6’ 225 lbs. (OK. At 77, I’m probably shorter than the 6’ I once was, but I won’t officially admit to having become any shorter!)

Resumed knitting on this, now that the monster Advent cowl is done:

Because so much yarn went into the cowl, this will either be a very small shawl, or finish with a different colour … or colours.

Oops! I just counted, and I’m up to 295 stitches!

Do I figure out a new target number (which means math!), or rip back to the pattern’s target number?

I don’t remember where I got the charted/multi-sizes version of this pattern, but it’s GREAT! The 229 stitch-total of the original is only the third size offered. The next bigger is 265 stitches, and the fifth is 301. So, my target now is 301 stitches, before beginning the feather and fan section - which may be very narrow or two (or more) toned. Two more rows!! smile
