11/23/11 - saw this pattern on Anne’s blog and HAD to get it immediately! I bought yarn at Webs last week, and cast this on last week. I’m 3/4 done with the back as of today. LOVING the yarn, it feels great to knit, and loving the pattern too.
12/11/11 - blocking the pieces, back and the two fronts. When they are done, I’ll need to block the sleeves, then i can sew this together!
12/18/11 - took the fronts & back off blocking board, put the sleeves on. Sewed the shoulder seams, wove in ends, then picked up for button band. Finished button band, and thought i’d do a tubular cast off. So I did 2 rounds of setup for that cast off, and realized that it was not the way to remember this cast off - on my brand new gorgeous sweater. So I went with a standard cast off instead, and it looks great!
Sewing in the sleeves is next, the finding & sewing buttons on, and I will likely also reinforce the button band with a nice ribbon on the inside (ala Knitmore Girls Tutorial).
12/21/11 - got the sleeves blocked (see new photos) and now I need to do the actual seaming. Need to decide if I will sit at a table or just stay in my usual recliner chair for the seaming. Hope to do this today, but I’m also going like gangbusters on another sweater, so I may work on that. But soon, this sweater will be finished and wearable!
12/22/11 - seamed this together successfully, and actually wore it to lunch with a friend today. Still needs buttons, but I can’t find most of the button holes - where did they go?? I believe that most of the buttonholes, on the return row, I knit through the back loop to keep the twisted ribbing going, and that closed up the button holes. This means I need to rip out the button band (at least to the buttonhole row), and re-knit it. I did purchase grosgrain ribbon and buttons, so once the button band is re-knit, then I can completely finish the sweater!
It’s so GREAT to have something that fits me, I’m so tired of wearing clothes that are 2-3 sizes to large!
12/30/11 - Blocking the button band, then will sew on grosgrain ribbon to support the button side, and sew on buttons to finish this sweater!
