This project was the result of nearly five years of yarn evolution. I bought two skeins of the yarn for a completely different project, then added a third skein when I opted for another project, and finally decided that I needed a fourth skein to make this shawl. The pattern calls for a much lighter-weight mohair/silk blend, and I knew that my yarn choice would completely change the effect of the original pattern. Once I’d swatched, though, I saw that the yarn itself would be nicely shown off by the lace, rather than the other way around, and that was what I really wanted.
