Fox among flowers, a collage
I enjoyed weaving this tapestry a lot. I made the flowers more abstract and paid more details to the fox on purpose, and I on purpose kept the look of a collage - this was based on a collage of photos I had found on the web. This tapestry is almost exactly 8 inches squared in size. Now I still have quite a bit of work finishing it off, but the weaving part is done.
For me the fox has very personal symbolism. When I had the worst depression of my life I sent a silent prayer, asking for a sign that all would be well, and then I looked through the window out into our back yard, and there was a fox there. I took that as my sign. And ever since then, any time I see a fox I take it as a reminder to not loose hope. It helps that we live in a neighborhood where foxes are commonly spotted, but sometimes I arrange for additional foxes such as here by weaving one. The yarn was bought at our local yarn store called Red Fox Yarns. And most of it is a wool and cotton blend, except for the yarn surrounding the fox which is marino wool blended with silk, very nice to work with.
