note: General notes on how to modify this pattern for a boy are available here on my blog. Let me know what you think!
Thanks!

11/9/11 I am going to adapt the Phoebe’s Sweater pattern for a little boy. I intend to leave out the swing style waist shaping, replace the smocked-style stitch with garter, and use an entirely different yarn. Notes to follow!
11/10/11 Gauge is 4 sts to the inch. I want it to be a size 4, around 25” circumference, so I am making the size 6 from the book- 104 sts, which should, after the buttons overlap, give me the width I want. I cast on 104, worked 3” in garter stitch, 3” in st st, then began the bodice, again in garter st. I am working buttonholes on opposite side of sweater as it is for a boy. Halfway to the second of four buttonholes. Love the way this yarn knits up. It is really like a 12-ply.
11/15/11 Worked the bodice in garter stitch. Length is just right. Finishing up first sleeve- making it a little long so we can cuff it at the wrist. G is really upset when I try it on for size- he wants to wear it to play outside in… right now!
11/15/11 For body, I worked 3 inches in garter, then 4 inches in st st, then another 3 inches in garter before dividing for front and back. I worked four buttonholes even spaced along edge of bodice, which measures 8 inches from beginning of garter st to bind off for neck edge. For the sleeves, 9 inches straight in st st, then decrease row, then 4 inches without shaping in garter stitch.
Next up, hood!
11/17/11 I used the hood as instructed in the pattern, substituting garter stitch for the pattern stitch at the edge of the hood.
Ends are woven in, buttons are sewn on. All that remains is the blocking!
All finished, fits great. Will post modifications on the blog soon.
