I always find that for me, MM wants to be knit on 8s, so that’s what I gauge swatched in.

When I got through the first cable repeat I decided to start over and add pockets, borrowing from the pattern from Enchanted Cardigan.

Switched to ribbing on the fronts after seven cable repeats, which was around 13”. Divided underarm around 15.5”. I did wind up using size 7 needles just to see how that goes.
This is not the best batch of Mountain Mohair I’ve ever bought—there are knots and breaks and a few thin bits that I hope don’t turn into holes. Wondering if they switched mills this year.

One thing I must remember next time I make this is to seam the shoulders more loosely or do a real wet block before seaming, since MM relaxes and seams don’t. But otherwise happy with how the cardigan came out. It is warmer than the surface of the sun.
