At 3” or so, started waist shaping: PM 29 stitches from center front on each side. Knit to 3 stitches before marker, SSK, K, SM, K, K2Tog. Repeat every 5 rows for a total of 4 decrease rows. Knit 5 rows then start increases: knit to 1 stitch before marker, M1L, K, SM, K, M1R. Increase every 5 rows for a total of 4 increase rows, 117 stitches total. One more increase at 13 1/2 inches.

August 18: This sweater’s been hibernating just long enough for me to forget everything I did. Thank god for ravelry notes.

Did a crocheted steek (see Ragga’s tutorial) instead of a sewn one. I probably wouldn’t crochet next time. Alafoss is too bulky for it, so the steek interrupts the yoke pattern.

Then I did a terribly messy job machine-sewing the zipper in, because: (1) I just bought my sewing machine and have no sewing experience and (2) Alafoss plus a crochet steek plus a zipper makes a very thick pile to sew through and (3) this zipper is stiff as a motherfucker. It was a learning experience and I hope I’ll do better next time. Love zippered cardigans, hate sewing in zippers.
