Prototype for a Nessie Mitt.

CO 42 on three dpn. Knit in the round.

Knit twisted 1x1 rib for 6 rounds, but do NOT ktbl on the very first k stitch. K this stitch on all rounds.

Rev. stockinette st for 6 rounds. Remember to knit the very first stitch on all rounds.

Make leaf:
1: k1, p13, yo, k1, yo, p rest.
2: k1, p13, k3, p rest.
3: k1, p13, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, p rest.
4: k1, p13, k5, p rest.
5: continue making leaf like this until there is 13 sts in leaf. End with k1, p13, k13, p rest.

Now make decreases in leaf:
1: k1, p13, yo, ssk, k9, k2tog, yo, p rest.
2: k1, p13, ptbl, k11, ptbl, p rest.
3: k1, p14, yo, ssk, k7, k2tog, yo, p rest.
4: k1, p14, ptbl, k9, ptbl, p rest.
5: continue decreases until 3 sts left in leaf, make double decrease. Remember the yo´rs every time you make a decrease.

When leaf is finished - and you have purled the last round where you have closed the yo´rs with a ptbl, you purl 2 rounds before putting the 13 sts made from the leaf on scrap yarn. At the same time co 2 sts where 14 sts were.

Purl 3 rounds before making twisted 1x1 rib - and remember to keep knitting the very first stitch in the beg of round.

Make 5 round in rib, while casting off on the 6th round. Do the ssk BO to make sure you have a flexible BO.

Put 13 sts plus 2 from the CO from leaf to make thumb. Knit 4 rounds of twisted 1x1 rib and BO on the 5th round. Use ssk-BO to this one too.

At the k st, pick up 1 st for every round and put it on a dpn. I used a crochet-hook to grab the yarn from beneath.
1: Twist the stitch on the first row to avoid holes.
2: p1, yo to the last st, p1.
3: K until 10 sts. left. Turn.
3: Yo, p to end.
4: Continue to move the short-row by 10 sts until less than 10 sts left. Bind off. (k to 10 sts before last short-row. Turn.)

For other mitt, move the leaf 14 sts to the other side of the first k st.
