Pattern is purchased from Etsy and in my Documents/Patterns folder on my Mac.
I’m so obsessed with blankets, I don’t make time for garments. But I really would like to improve my garment-making skills.
My plan is to make this slightly longer. Will this finally be the sweater that I will wear out of the house? Can I learn to make a sweater that actually fits me?

I swatched for this today. I had to go down to a 3.5mm to get gauge (22 sts), instead of the pattern’s recommended 5.0mm. My row gauge is low (only 19 rows per 4” instead of 21) but I plan to adjust the length of the cardigan anyway.

I measured a favorite pullover that I like the length and ease of and it is 14.5” from the bottom of the hem ribbing to the split for the sleeves.
The pattern gauge of 21 rows = 4” means the 48 rows called for in the pattern would only be a little over 9”! That’s quite cropped.
I’ve currently got 12” height. Perhaps I will stop at 14”.
Width wise, calculating inches from the pattern gauge and number of stitches, I should be at a little over 49 inches. Instead, I am closer to 52 at the top (less at the ribbing). I should always assume my swatches lie on the small side because that’s definitely a pattern with my sweaters. I really wish designers would give measurements and not just stitch count. (Though I should check the PDF on my other computer -- it might have a schematic even though the blog post does not.) This isn’t the kind of construction where you can try it on as you go, but if there had been a width specified, I probably would have checked sooner.
Not frogging. If I don’t like the fit, I’ll see if it works for C, who has a bigger chest measurement than me, and I’ll make it again with a smaller hook for me. So far, I am enjoying the pattern and the texture/drape of the fabric very much.

Body done! Now I’m ready for the sides and back.

Moving this to hibernating since I haven’t touched it in a while.
I messed up my counts with the neck shaping and put this in the naughty corner a while back, but I’d like to start another garment so I have to finish this one first.

Rosina from Zeens and Roger is having a cardigan CAL, starting today, so I’m taking that as a sign that I should work on this next.

I am starting this now that I have finished my Around the Bases blanket. Monogamy is agreeing with me so far this year.

Right front panel done. Starting on the Back Panel.

I have finished the back panel and the second front panel. After using stitch markers to attach the shoulder seams, I tried it on and I am quite pleased with the fit.
