The first two square patterns were released this morning, which was exciting! I bought the video tutorials along with the pattern but mostly to support Ness. The photo tutorials are so clear I absolutely did not need video support. I just did one square each for now (because I have a blanket that is a gift that I need to spend the majority of my time on) and I’m loving them so far.

it’s Friday, the second set of 2 patterns dropped today, and I just finished one of each. I finished the last of the 5 squares of the first 2 patterns last night. My plan is to do like I did this week going forward: one of each square the day the patterns drop & the remaining of each assembly line style on the days between the pattern releases.

My squares are coming out more like 4.5” / 12cm, even with the slightly smaller hook, but they are coming out more or less the same size as each other which is all that really matters. Still, if I made 12x12 squares as the creator did for colorway 1, that would be a very big, square blanket. I think I will change it to 8x10 because I prefer rectangular throws and it would be closer to my preferred 50” x 60” size. This would mean I need to do 3 of 20 squares and 2 of 10, and I could count the 2 extra I did of squares 1 & 2 as doing 3 of squares 3 & 4. So, going forward, I’ll need 3 of 16 of the remaining squares and 2 of 10. This will also be easier to keep up with each week so that I can make some progress on other WIPs at the same time. In particular, I don’t want to fall behind on my Temperature Blanket and I must finish the Seedling Blanket since it’s a housewarming gift and they’ve already moved.

I’ve been keeping up with this CAL each week and I’ve been enjoying it. I stopped trying to follow Colourway 1 after the first week because part of the fun is picking out pleasing color combinations.

I have finished all 80 squares!

Tomorrow I’ll block the squares since it’s one of my few remaining Summer Fridays at work (where we all take off at 1:00pm). I am a little concerned because there is a pretty big variation in the square size. If I need to, I can add another round of sc to some squares and fudge the stitch counts.

It’s a wrap! OK, no, it’s a blanket… Oh, you know what I mean!

It’s Labor Day today, so I spent a few hours in the morning finishing this up since I didn’t have to go go work. It was a lot of work -- the squares were, in general, fussier than I would have guessed. Very well written patterns but I’m a average to slow crocheter so this took a LOT of hours. I’m glad I didn’t keep track.
