This is the “cousin” blanket I’m making at the same time as the Havana CAL blanket for my oldest daughter.

Color A for Pattern 1, 3, 5, & 7 is Light Tan (T).
Color A for Pattern 2, 4, & 6 is Ecru (E).

Color B for Pattern 1, 3, 5, & 7 is a pink gradient (3 rows each):

  • White (W)
  • Candyfloss (C)
  • Pale Rose (P)
  • Denali (D)
  • Raspberry (R)
  • Badlands (B)

Color B for Pattern 2, 4, & 6 is a grey gradient (3 rows each):

  • Graphite (G)
  • Grey (Y)
  • Light Grey (L)
  • Silver Grey (S)
  • Misty Grey (M)
  • White (W)

Each pattern is 3 repeats of 12 rows, so the gradients might cycle through one row of each color three times or have three in a row of each color.

Pattern 1:

  • TWTWTCTPTDTRTB
  • TWTCTPTDTRTB
  • TWTCTPTDTRTB

October 5, 2018

Finished part 1 today! Very pretty and a fun pattern.

Color plan for Pattern 2:

  • EGEGEGEYEYEY
  • ELELELESESES
  • EMEMEMEWEWEW

March 17, 2019

Color plan for Pattern 3:

  • TBTBTBTRTRTR
  • TDTDTDTPTPTP
  • TCTCTCTWTWTW

Back to this after a 5-month break, during which time I finished the first one of these that I started. I loved how that one came out and I’m excited to be working on this second one!

March 19, 2019

Color plan for Pattern 4:

  • YEYEYEYEYEYE
  • LWLWLWLWLWLW
  • YMYMYMYMYMYM

This won’t be a gradient of the grays. Choosing colors from the gray range that have good contrast, and starting with the foreground color so the boxes show up better.

March 21, 2019

Color plan for Pattern 5:

  • TCTBTPTRTDTW
  • TCTBTPTRTDTW
  • TCTBTPTRTDTW

Also not a gradient of pinks in an effort to increase contrast.

April 1, 2019

I didn’t make a color plan before starting Pattern 6, but looking back at it, apparently I did:

  • GEGEGELWLWLW
  • YWYWYWLWLWLW
  • GEGEGELELELE

Color plan for Pattern 7:

  • TWTWTWTCTCTC
  • TPTPTPTDTDTD
  • TRTRTRTBTBTB

This is just a gradient from light to dark with 3 rows of each pink color (the reverse of Pattern 3 which I think is the prettiest of the pink sections).

April 5, 2019

I started the border this morning by doing the slip stitch round and tying off the ends.

NOTE TO SELF: Remember to change to 4.5 mm hook for the rest of the rounds of the border.

April 9, 2019

First Row Border Counts:

** Top/Bottom: (15 repeats x 12 st) + 2 sc + 4 dc = 186
** Left/Right: (36 rows x 7 sections) + 4 dc = 256

Back Actual (T/L/B/R): 185 / 258 / 185 / 257

I’m not sure if I should count the 2 sc that were the border sts since the sl sts were in the space between them and the next sc blo. (I wish the pattern had stitch counts for the back dc round and didn’t just say to add an extra stitch per side on the last round.) I did count them, which may mean I need to fudge a stitch or two when I join the front and back parts of the border with sl sts.

April 10, 2019

I’ve started on the front of the mosaic border.

Note to self: you missed the note about starting 11 stitches before the corner with the sc in the blo of the sl sts. On round 6, when you start doing the dc sts, I’ve marked on the chart where to start.

Also, you’re on round 3, so don’t forget to decrease on the sides that need it to get the first round stitch count to a multiple of 12 + 3.
