Note: in the video tutorial, Mikey doesn’t tell you to chain one to close the popcorn but the written pattern does say to do this. I think working into that chain on the next round would make the popcorns be straighter than mine, which point to the side. I’ll do them all consistently though in my project since I started this way.

My colors are rather boring for a Project Linus blanket, but these Caron Cakes were on clearance for $2.97 so I’m not really complaining.

I finished the first cake today. The pattern goes to 35 popcorn rows. I need to be careful to be sure I have enough yarn to make tassels.

Moving right along on this project -- about half through the next cake. It occurred to me it would make a good lap/wheelchair blanket at this size. Perhaps I should stop now with this one and make a second as well? The colors might make it better suited to donate to a nursing home than Project Linus.

I ended up using 4.5 cakes on this blanket. I decided against tassels and went a bit off pattern on the edge. I did 3 rounds of front post/back post dc in a larger hook, followed by a round of sc in the original 5.5 mm hook. I think it finished it off nicely.
