I’ve decided I’m going to do 3 each of the small squares, so a 6 x 6 blanket. My first two squares are coming out at 8.5”, so the blanket will be 53” or 54” or so. Perfect size for Project Linus!

I had a fun time at the Meetup yesterday! It’s neat to get together in person with other people doing the CAL.
Today I finished the border on the three squares. For such a simple square it took me a while to determine how many sc there should be per side on the final round. I decided to go with 27 since Esther (in the video) said she’s doing 3 in each corner and 25 stitches down the side. Note: this was a mistake and causes bulging at the corners. It should have been 25 down the side, so 104 total all around including the four corner stitches.

I finished the third of the second set of squares (Irish Moss) yesterday at the Meetup. This was the third time we got together at Michael’s in Burlington, and we had five people this time (and seven last week). Last week, my friend Patti came, which was fun! I met Patti at Joann’s at the very end of last year, and we’ve been Instagram and Facebook friends since. The funny thing is, Patti knows Carolynn, the woman who instigated the Michael’s CAL -- it is a very small world!

I’ve got 18 squares so far. I could continue doing 3 each for the 6x6 grid, or I could switch to doing 1 large and 1 small of each, which would give me 24 small and 6 large, which would be exactly a half-size blanket of the “full CAL”. I would like to use up most of my yarn, and Carolynn sent me the weight of her large squares (she’s also using With Love yarn), which let me calculate that I’d have enough to do the larger size. Decisions, decisions…

Finished this up over the Christmas holiday with the final Bee Keeper square which was fun but turned out quite small -- I had to block it aggressively to get it close enough in size to the others. I did the no-fuss SC join and simple ribbed border exactly as indicated in the pattern.
This finished off the year with my 15th(!) blanket.
